This may seem like a small discipline, but is quite controversial in the field of medicine. --Preceding unsigned comment added by Polacrilex (talk o contribs)
Agreed. CPOE is much bigger than it looks from the outside. --Dirkstanley (talk) 16:29, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

External link to TM software
IP user 87.161.217.56 objects to my deletion of his link to a software company's web site in Iceland, which, among other things, makes hospital software. There is no reference information of any type, except a self serving statement that "Theriak healthcare solution has been installed by leading European hospitals in five countries, enabling savings of up to 20% on medication costs while reducing medication related errors by more than 50%" (that CPOE reduces errors is already stated in the article with a citation to published research data). No data to support Theriak's claim is provided. I did a search on that site for the terms: CPOE (No results), Doctor (opens a page describing the software's functions, again, unreferenced). IP user 87.161.217.56 also tipped his hand by posting his link in bold type, unlike any other links or text in the article. Merely distributing software does not make you a reference source. - Ryanjo 02:29, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

129.2.141.123 (talk) 19:12, 29 April 2011 (UTC)4/29 3:11PM Is this "Computerized provider order entry" or "Computerized physician order entry"? See discrepancy between title and content of first paragraph.
The problem, I think, is that historically this has been called "Computerized Physician Order Entry". But when it comes to some of the real workflow challenges (of physicians entering all of their own orders, so they can be exposed to Clinical Decision Support alerts), it seems the somewhat more modern term has been "Computerized Provider Order Entry", which seems slightly more open to interpretation. The actual CMS Website uses the term "Provider Order Entry" --Dirkstanley (talk) 16:26, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
